G.R.A.S.P.S.
Goal: to create a prototype of textile fashion influenced by the work of Rex Ray
Role: a paper doll designer
Audience: children of varying genders
Situation: you have been hired to create a doll that a child of any gender could play with
Product: collage with paper doll
Standards: IB Design Criterion A, B, C, D
Tasks:
Task 1: Organic vs. Geometric Design
Each team will create a google doc with ONE slide...with at least one example of each... ORGANIC
patterns and GEOMETRIC patterns. Please label them as organic and gemetic. We will do a
quick GALLERY WALK, so we can see all examples created by the class. (formative) Due 3/22
Task 2: Collage Designs (formative)
Each DESIGN should be a minimum of
- Monochromatic
- Complementary
- 3 Colors
- Black & White
- Choice of color...ORGANIC & GEOMETRIC
The thumbnail sketches should include color and ideas for patterns, with written descriptions and all
details for intended design prototype.
Task 4: Paper Doll Design Prototype (summative)
