Goal: To research market trends in the USA and beyond and to choose a specific artist to research. You will combine this information in order to create an artist inspired fashion design.
Role: A fashion design designer and illustrator.

Situation: A new clothing company is looking for design ideas for artist inspired textiles and fashion.

Vocabulary
fashion designer-
the creator of a garment or line of garment from the initial concept sketching stage through planning proportions, colors, fabrics, and garment details
fashion illustrator-
the artists who draws garments, on or off the figure, that are used in the fashion industry as a visual means of communication
croquis-
small, rough sketch lacking in detail done by designers to show the proportions and silhouettes of the line they are creating
flat-
drawing of a garment off the figure in correct proportions and with all garment details
spec sheet-
flat drawing with the addition of measurements and detail specifications
style-

Process
- We will start out looking at a slide presentation with examples of fashion inspired by artists.
- You will research marketing trends and save images (30 or more) of your favorite fashion trends that you may want to investigate If you do not already have one, you will create a Pinterest account and create an album or albums to save ideas for our summative task, or a google doc as an alternative.
(formative assessment). - You will find an artist of interest that you would like to research and find a work of art to inspire your fashion statement. (formative assessment)
- Once you've decided on a final idea, you will create a design brief. (formative assessment)
- You will create a series of thumbnail sketches and planning sketches. (formative assessment)
- Finally, using tempera paint, you will create a final illustration that displays the fashion statement you have chosen to create.
