Playground for the Mind:
Process Journal/Sketchbook
–noun
Throughout the year, you will be required to maintain a journal/sketchbook. Your journal is where you will do much of your planning and preparation for each project, a place to record the process.
You should also include notes, ideas, drawings and found objects that inspire you. Your journal should represent you…your interests, your passions, your thoughts and feelings.
The journal will also be used as assessment tool, for me to see your development/process with each of the projects, so make sure that you take it seriously and be honest with yourself. Do NOT tear pages out of your journal! There is no right or wrong way to create a journal. Mistakes are part of the process. Just have fun with it and remember that a journal/sketchbook is a journey, not a destination!!!
Here is a list of items/concepts that can be included in your journal…
photos drawings painting text (words or letters) numbers or symbols
textured pages magazine clippings collage fabric found objects feelings/frustrations
design ideas questions responses to journal prompts self-assessment
What is NOT allowed in your journal…
Profanity of any kind is not welcome at school, or in your journal/sketchbook. Be creative and use appropriate language and content. Remember that your journals will be reviewed regularly.
