Goal: Your goal is to create a 3D mask that has a story that has been inspired by a specific culture and genre.
Role: Your role is an artist that has been requested to create a maks that tells a story, that has been inspired by a specific culture or genre.
Audience: Your audience is people that would visit a museum to see an exhibit of masks from around the world, from a variety of points in history.
Situation: You have been given the task of recreating a mask that has qualities similar to one from a culture or genre that you have researched. The mask would be displayed in an art show that would educate visitors of the museum about masks from around the world, from the beginning of time to the present.
Product: Your product is a 3D mask that is aesthetically pleasing and fully functional.
Standards: All IB criterion A, B, C, D and National and State VAPA standards

genre- a particular type or category of literature or art.
narrative perspective- refers to the set of characteristics that determines the method an author of a story uses to relay the plot to his audience. It encompasses both the narrator or storyteller, and the persona from whose point of view the story is told.
ritual- always done in a particular situation and in the same way each time, usually done in accordance with social custom or normal protocol.
play- recreational activity or the spontaneous activity of children,
3-Dimensional- the quality of an object having height, width and depth
sulpture- the art of making two- or three-dimensional representative or abstract forms, especially by carving stone or wood or by casting metal or plaster.
mask- a cover or partial cover for the face used for disguise.
texture- the way something feels or looks like it feels.
form- is a three-dimensional geometrical figure (i.e.: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, etc.), as opposed to a shape, which is two-dimensional, or flat.
symmetrical- occurs when one side is the mirror image of the other.
asymmetrical- occurs when each side is different from the other.
