Congratulations to the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient in history, Malala Yousafzai...a perfect example of this month's IB Learner Profile Trait, PRINCIPLED. Malala on the 'Daily Show'...video http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/a335nz/malala-yousafzai As we are wrapping up a successful couple of days of Student Led Conferences, I'd like to remind everyone to make sure you are keeping up with assignments and homework. A couple of things that will be due next week, in order for us to be prepared to start final phases of our projects next week. 6th grade... Cupcake Worksheet (see image above)...practicing monochromatic (one color), analogous (colors next to each other on the color wheel), complementary (colors across from each other on the color wheel) and finally (on the bottom section), a color palette of your choice. Try to pick predominately one of the color choices we discussed in class...a triad (primary, secondary or tertiary colors), a double complement (2 pairs of complementary colors) or a split complement (using a chosen color and the two colors to the sides of that colors complement. Example: blue combined with red-orange and red-yellow). 7th grade... Make sure to come prepared with your final thumbnail sketch and all resources that you will need to begin your final drawing for this unit. Bring your devices and any drawings, images from magazine or books and any other reference materials you may need to help support your central idea and drawing details. Some of the details you may want to be thinking about... Location (space) Date (time) Subject (what will your kitchen tool be used for or transformed into?) 8th grade... As we are wrapping up our work on our value, self-portraits, I'd like you to start refreshing your memory of our goals and objectives of the assignment, as well as vocabulary terms, in order to prepare for next week's critique. :) Here's something fun for you. This blog belongs to one of my dear friends, Kelly Doren. He is an artist/illustrator that lives in the Napa Valley. Every year, in October, he creates a monster a day (along with a story about them) and posts them on his blog. Visit the link frequently for new additions...
http://kellydoren.blogspot.com/2014/10/31-days-of-monsters-2014-snallygaster.html?spref=fb This month's IB Learner Profile trait is PRINCIPLED. Remember to focus on having a principled attitude and actions this month in all of your classes. Also...a reminder to bring in images and articles that show IB Learner Profile traits, so we can help our IB tree grow, and you can earn 'HawkEyes'.
